The Nature of Our Practice
The practice of our firm is almost exclusively devoted to the
representation of corporations, municipalities, and insurance companies in the defense or prosecution of their interests in
both State and Federal courts, in all of New York City, Long Island and Westchester.
Our insurance company clients
include Magna Carta Companies, Firemen's Insurance Company of Washington, D.C., and American Transit Insurance Company. Some
of the corporations we represent are Tishman Construction Corporation, Sunoco, Inc. and PC Richards & Son. We also represent
municipal and governmental clients, including the Town of Oyster Bay.
Our expertise is in the defense of casualty
claims running the gamut from premises liability, products liability, automobile accidents and construction accidents, to
toxic torts/ environmental matters, lead paint poisoning cases, and Section 1983 claims.
In addition, a substantial
portion of our practice is devoted to the representation of clients in first party property damage claims, to providing coverage
opinions on a wide variety of issues, and to prosecuting or defending declaratory judgment actions. We also
have a strong emphasis in real estate related matters including litigation and closings for individuals, corporations and
financial institutions.

Case Handling Strategy
Our objective is excellent work at reasonable cost.
First party claims are promptly and thoroughly investigated and analyzed. In the appropriate case, and with the agreement
of the insurer, examinations under oath are conducted, appropriate documents requested, and a prompt recommendation is formulated.
Insofar as casualty claims are concerned, we continuously evaluate and monitor our cases in order to identify
those which are candidates for early settlement, without the necessity of incurring further defense costs and discovery. We
also scrutinize our cases to ascertain which are candidates for motions to dismiss or motions for summary judgment. We have
had much success in obtaining dispositions by aggressively asserting available legal defenses.
Another tactic which
we have found not only saves money for the client, but also promotes more efficient and effective work, is to centralize the
work of a particular insured or client with designated attorneys within the firm. Those attorneys then constitute a team which
develops specialized expertise and knowledge concerning the methods and operations of the insured or client.
Timely
and informative communication with the client lies at the core of our case handling strategy. Status and analysis reports
to clients are prepared on a 90-day calendar, unless circumstances or need dictates more frequent or fewer reports. These
reports review litigation and discovery developments, as well as provide analysis of strategy and tactics and offer recommendations
to clients. Through these reports, the client is not only apprised of developments, but also is afforded an opportunity to
participate in the direction of the litigation.
